a7x is my favorite band so im a little biased, but they have have a lot of haters for no apparent reason. Mike is a better drummer than the rev, but the rev is still awesome, and plays much faster than mike ever has, mike’s rythym’s are just more complex. Gates is an amazing guitarist, he can play a variety of genres and is also very fast (named one of Guitar Worlds 25 fastest players, John was NOT on the list). Both are great bands in two different genres, and both very talented

@shadowseal22 actually, the complexity doesn’t prove a drummers worth. Timing and appropriateness of the playing is more important. You can have the most incredibly written piece of drumming, but if the drummer is gonna be a down syndrome kid that has no timing, even if he plays the right notes, it’ll still sound retarded. Like someone saying that “his parts” aren’t as complex. “His parts” are appropriate for the songs that he plays with. Drums are the backbone of the band, not the lead.

I respect both DT and A7X, once A7X get as old, and have played as long as DT, they will be as good, if not better, than DT. Any musician knows that you could only know 3 chords and become famous ( Nirvana, Blink 182, etc…). But with time comes talent. It doesn’t just come overnight. DT has been playing for 21 years. A7X has been playing for about 8 or 9 now. You do the math.
